Layered Curriculum, Bloom's Taxonomy and Inquiry: How
well do they fit together?
Carrie Latesky has been an educator for over
10 years with Saginaw Public Schools. She teaches 7th and
8th grade mathematics and science at Zilwaukee International
Studies School, which is a K-8 building. She strives to motivate
students to become engaged in learning and has found Layered
Curriculum to be a successful method for doing so.
Carrie
has served as a building DI facilitator for her school district
for the past two years. "I am very excited about the results
I've gotten using Layered Curriculum® in my classroom and
look forward to sharing the method with you." She has, in
fact, shared her many innovative lessons with colleagues throughout
her school district winning over many converts along the way.
Her enthusiasm and strong buy-in to this program have made
her a strong advocate for the layered approach.
She
has a Bachelor's of Science degree from Saginaw Valley State
University. She also has a Master of Arts in Teaching Natural
Science with a middle level mathematics concentration from
Saginaw Valley State University. Her expertise in middle school
mathematics and science propelled her into a teacher specialist
position in science during the winter of 2008 as part of the
Michigan Mathematics and Science Teacher Leadership Collaborative,
a statewide project designed to promote leadership.
