Tournament Preparation
Daily logs must be left in folder.
Performances for coach must be scheduled in advance.
Section I "C" level . Maximum 65 points.
1. Be in class on time and complete activity log, participate in team activities: 2 points per day.
2. Organize, supplement, and work with files/records (oratory, extemporaneous, impromptu, student congress, interpretation, debate) Includes speech outlines for extemporaneous and impromptu, research for oratory, cuttings and or analysis for interpretation, constructive speech for policy or LD, negative blocks. New legislation for student congress. Research, filing articles or speech construction are included. 5 points each. 1 2 3 4 5
3. Listen to and take notes on twenty minute taped news segment in class: file notes in appropriate topic areas. 5 pts. each. 1 2 3 4 5
4. Give two practice speeches to captain or other group member. 5 pts. each. 10 pts. max.
5. Perform a speech which is videotaped; view and critique the performance. (turn in ballot for credit/ 10 pts)
6. Videotape another performer. 5 points.
Section II "B" level
1. Participate in one after school practice. 10 pts.
2. Listen to a tape of the 1998 finals and summarize one of the speeches or flow a debate. 5 pts.
3. Give a speech, interpretation or debate for coach (schedule). 15 pts.
Section III. "A" level
1. Serve as a captain of the team and plan group activities. 15 pts.
2. Conduct an after school practice session. 15 pts.
3. Serve as an officer of the debate club and/or perform extra duties for tournament preparation. 10pts.
4. Participate in scheduled tournament (Jan. 15,16) 20 pts.
