Section 1- “C” Level Activities……. 70 points minimum before moving onto “B” level, 75 points needed if working in the “C” level only

    2C       Read one of the chapters on Eric Clapton, Led Zeppelin, The Evolution of the singer-songwriter, Elton John or David Bowie from The Rolling Stone Illustrated History of Rock and Roll, make a list of 15 facts that you learned from the chapter (15pts)
    3C       Watch the one of the concert DVD’s provided and critique the performance

    4C       Find web sites that discuss Rock music in the 1970’s.  Fill out a website review sheet on each site you find. Record the sites for later use in the unit. (3 max) (5pts each)
    5C       Find the website or homepage for a 1970’s Rock and Roll artist.  Make a list of 15 pieces of information you learned from the website.  Provide the website address.  (15pts)
    6C       Read the chapter  “Bring On The Noise”in David Shirley’s “History of Rock and Roll”, list 15 facts from the chapter. (15pts)
    7C       Complete the provided puzzle. Read the provided article to complete. (10pts)
    8C       Listen to class lecture or readings and take notes………….(5pts) per day
    9C       Make a list of 6 important 70’s groups or musicians.  Tell what they played and why each one was important and unique to the history of rock and roll.  (10pts)
    10C       Read the chapter “Things Quiet Down”, in “History of Rock and Roll” by David Shirley.  Complete the worksheet provided (15pts)
    11C       Listen to the 1970’s Rock and Roll CD provided.  Provide comments on each musical selection and discuss the examples with the teacher. (15pts)
    12C       Heavy Metal exploded in the 1970’s along with punk.  Read the articles provided and list 15 facts you learned from each article.  (15pts)
    13C       Singer songwriters emerged in the midst of an era where groups seemed to reign.  These individual artists returned to the roots of American popular music, folk and country. Read the provided articles on singer songwriters and the Beyond Elvis article.  Make a list of 15 facts that you learned from the articles (15pts)
    14C       Read pages 80-83 in David Shirley’s “History of Rock and Roll”  and complete the provided worksheet on Eric Clapton. (10pts)

Section 2- “B” Level Activities Choose 1

17B       Choose a 70’s Group or Musician and create a concert poster.  Include the place, time, date, ticket info as well as the performer’s information.  Use styles popular in this decade.  Be Creative! (15pts)

20A       Write a one page essay on how disco dancing became so popular.  Name some of the popular artists and songs of this era.  Why didn’t the fad last in your opinion? Do you think it will ever return?  (15pts)
