COMPETENCY GOAL 3: The learner will conduct investigations and use appropriate technology to build an understanding of weather and climate.


“C” Layer Activities:  Choose a combination of activities for a maximum point value of 70.

1.  Listen to lesson – take notes daily.  1 2 3 4 5 (2 points per day)     ________

2.  Read Chapter 9 in textbook answer questions at end.  5 points    ________

4.  Quietly, watch the weather video. Remember to think about the focus questions.    5 points    ________

6.    Using any media you choose, create a visual of the water cycle.    15 points       ________

7.    With a partner, sign up for a day to deliver the weather forecast during the morning announcements. Remember, this will be broadcast live so dress the part!    10 points    ________
 
 8.  Complete the “Weather” worksheet packet.    10 points       ________

9.      With a partner, group, or by yourself design a Power Point  presentation that describes the formation of clouds. 10 points     ________

10.    In your Science Journal, explain the following terms: - precipitation, air pressure, atmosphere, climate    10 points     ________

11.    Create a brochure convincing someone to move to our area based on our climate.    10 points     ________

3.  Write a short essay describing how the following are affected by predictable patterns of weather: temperature, wind direction and speed, cloud cover, precipitation, and air pressure.     15 points         ______
