In a well thought out and defended essay, discuss ONE of the following topics. Essays should be 2-3 typed pages (double-spaced), font Times New Roman size 12, with 1” margins. Most importantly, take a position and then defend it.  

  1. It is not the role of the United States to be “World Police”. People must learn to stand on their own. Agree or disagree?
  2. If you could choose JUST ONE of the number of issues that face the continent of Africa to solve, which would it be, and why? You may choose how you would like to present your information (iMovie, PowerPoint, Research Paper). Cite at least 3 sources in your work.
  3. The history of Africa is not a major unit of study in many U.S. high schools. Why not?
  4. Which genocide was worse, Rwanda or Sudan? Be sure to discuss the criteria for your judgment.
  5. I am a businessman. Choose any nation of Sub-Sahara Africa and convince me that I should move my business there.
  6. Which has had the greatest impact on the continent of Africa: violence or compassion? Use examples in your discussion.
  7. You have created a cure for AIDS, however you don’t have enough of the cure to help everyone. Who do you decide to give the cure to and why?
