B level Activities (15 pts – you must complete the C level first)
- You live in the year 2050
where the population is 12 billion people, twice as many people as
exist today. How would life be different? What resources
are limiting and how have people adapted? In a 2-3 page story,
describe a day in your life: what kind of energy do you use, where do
people live, how is their health, what is school like, what jobs are
available, etc…
- Complete the PowerPoint
activity on Illinois Endangered Species. (see handout) You must get
your endangered species approved by your teacher before you begin.
- Research the status of
the Endangered Species Act from 1973 to present. Make a poster
display showing a time line of events, specific people, political
parties involved, and present problems.
A level Activities (15
pts – you must complete the B level first)
- Read the Issues in
Biology on the Gray Wolf on page 128 in your book. Using internet
resources, answer the two questions in 2-3 typed pages.
- As the world becomes more
populated, there is a limit on resources like oil. One way that
the auto industry is trying to conserve resources is by making cars
that run on ethanol, a fuel made from corn. Research ethanol:
what is it, who makes it, who sells it, what cars can use it, what is
the cost, and how does using it benefit Illinois, would you use
it? Research the topic, then type a 2-3 page typed response.
All assignments will be graded using Oral
Defense as well as the quality of the work you produce.
You may work together in
groups of no more than 3 people. However, you will each do your
own oral defense and turn in your own paper work or project.
There will be a final test on
this unit at the end of the unit.
You are responsible for pacing yourself
to get through the different levels of the unit.
