Seasons ­ fall (kindergarten)

TIME ­ 5-6 days

KEY TOPICS ­ important changes in temperature, plants, animals, and people

Day One

Read Autumn by Terri DeGezelle ( or other book introducing this season)

Each of the following choices will be found at a separate station in the room. Students must choose to do two in the time allowed.

1. Record temperature on chart (1st day this will be done as a class)

2. Match animals to their winter home ( worksheet, felt board, etc.)

3. Find pictures from choices on table that begin with each letter of AUTUMN/FALL

4. Word box/ vocabulary (could be required)

Day Two

Read Dappled Apples by Jan Carr ( or other book about harvesting, apples, etc. could be combined with a field trip to an apple orchard)

Each of the following choices will be found at a separate station in the room. Students must choose to do two in the time allowed.

1. Apple tasting (identify different flavors)

2. Collage of fall food with pictures

3. Seed counting (pumpkin, squash, etc.)

4. Color pictures of fall fruits and vegetables

5. Word box/vocabulary (could be required)

Day Three

Get ready for fall. Discuss with class changes that occur as people, animals, etc get ready for winter.

Each of the following choices will be found at a separate station in the room. Students must choose to do two in the time allowed.

1. Thirsty tree experiment

2. Animal match with their fall prep ( squirrels gathering nuts, etc.)

3. Story book tape and picture draw

4. Word box/vocabulary (could be required)

Day Four

Read Autumn Leaves by Ken Robbins (or other book about different types of leaves could be combined with walk to gather leaves to use in other options)

Each of the following choices will be found at a separate station in the room. Students must choose to do two in the time allowed.

1. Fall tree art project

2. Leaf match

3. Season tree I.D.

4. Word box/vocabulary (could be required)
