By the end of this chapter

- How the geography
of the Nile changes as the river runs its course.
- About the types
of communities that first appeared along the Nile, and how the Nile
was used for trade.
- The history of kingship
in ancient Egypt, and about the accomplishments during each of the three
kingdom periods.
- About Egyptian gods
and goddesses, as well as the Egyptians’ belief in the afterlife.
- How and why the
pharaohs’ tombs were built.
- The advances made
by the Egyptians in science and medicine.
- Examine the relationship
between Nubia and Egypt, and learn about the Nubian kingdoms centered
in Kerma, Napata, and Meroë.

about the building the great pyramids from the perspective of the workers,
foremen, or pharaohs. You will write from the perspective of two
different people, therefore, you will have two different reports.
Include at least three facts from each side. All work must be

the mummification process and create a life-size sarcophagus.

sarcophagus you must include ten facts about the mummification process.

station, watch the video on Ancient Egypt. You MUST take notes
while viewing the video. Then write a five-paragraph report summarizing
this ancient civilization. You may add facts to your report that
you learned from the textbook and other sources. All work must
be in your own words; double-spaced; 12 point font; 1 inch margins.

Complete one activity for
15 points. Plan to spend 90 minutes on each of these activities.
If working in a group, each person must contribute 90 minutes to the

“A” level projects must be pre-approved with the teacher before
beginning the work.

rulers similar or different? All work must be in your

of view. Be creative in your entries, so that they reveal the character,
