Objectives: SWBAT
7.1 Describe characteristics if viruses.  (Build model of virus)
7.2 Explain why a virus is not considered a living organism.
7.3 Describe a process of a virus invading a cell. (Folded book, computer animation, index cards)
7.4 Give examples of disease caused by viruses. (Polio, rabies, etc.)
7.5 Describe how viral contagion can be prevented.  (Immunization, personal hygiene.)
7.6 Explore medical careers

Directions: You must acquire the necessary points for each level in order to move on to the next level. You will work with a partner when you reach Level 2 project. You and your partner will present a research project to the class.

LEVEL 1: BASIC UNDERSTANDING – 15 pts

______ Craft Project- Make a model of a virus out of nuts and bolts, explain the lytic cycle to 4 classmates
