Magic Formula"
Donna Thomas is an Education Consultant with
North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. Her teaching
experience is K-5 students, as well as middle school. She
teaches a graduate level class, Developmental Supervision
of Novice Teachers preparing master teachers to serve as mentors/coaches
to novice teachers. Donna feels strongly that Layered Curriculum
embraces the components needed to meet the needs of every
student. She is excited that there is finally a way to make
differentiation more manageable for teachers. Donna has not
only written and implemented units in her own classroom, she
has presented workshops on Layered Curriculum and has assisted
teachers as they begin their journey in Layered Curriculum.
Donna has presented at regional, state and national conferences.
Her specialty areas are math, differentiation, and teacher
development. Donna states, "If our task is student achievement,
we need to look at how the brain learns. Layered Curriculum
allows for an easy integration of that knowledge into our
teaching."
