In order to complete this assignment each student will need to obtain 100 points. Each layer will have a total number of points they must acquire before moving onto the next level.

Objectives: The student will be able to:

·    Identify words that name action (verbs) at 90 percent of the time without teacher assistance.

·    Identify words that name persons, places or things (nouns) at 90 percent of the time without teacher assistance.

·    Determine the meaning of a compound word using knowledge of the meaning of their individual component words such as (football) at 90 percent of the time without teacher assistance.

Class Instruction:

Day One, Part One: On the first day, I (teacher) will go over the new vocabulary words that are known as verbs and nouns. I will tell you the difference between a verb and a noun and how you can tell the difference. I will then allow the students to practice finding verbs and nouns by reading a sentence aloud and asking students to tell me what the verb or noun is in the sentence.  During our practice session, I will ask students if they can come up with an example of a verb, noun or if they don’t understand to ask questions.

Day One, Part Two:  Also on the first day, I (teacher) will go over some compound words that are used within our daily speech. I will ask students for input of words they think are compound words. This exercise will require class participation to see if students understand the meaning of a compound word. I will give an example and then ask students for input.

Upon completion of my lecture the students will move on to seatwork. At this time I will explain to the students that they have to complete 3 levels of work to achieve the required grade.
